Hi, I’m asha kabirou.

I’m Asha Kabirou, the Founder and Research Director of Halaqah Tingz. I created Halaqah Tingz to make intricate Islamic concepts accessible and relatable, with a focus on building a grounded and supportive community for women in the DMV (Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia) area.

I am the author of The Invisible Hand: Exploring the Visible and Invisible Design in Nature, a book that examines the interconnectedness of scientific and spiritual perspectives on the natural world.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology, concentrating on the function of animals, and a Master’s in Biotechnology, with a focus on biodefense and biosecurity. With over six years of experience at the National Institutes of Health, I have contributed to important projects related to COVID-19, infectious diseases, antibiotic resistance, and more. My work in these areas reflects my commitment to understanding the complexities of biological systems and their impact on public health.

In addition to my research, I am a passionate public speaker, often drawing connections between scientific concepts and spirituality. My ability to bridge these fields allows me to inspire diverse audiences and help them see the connections between their faith and the natural world. Through my work at Halaqah Tingz, I continue to encourage a deeper understanding of Islam and its harmonious relationship with science and spirituality.

APPROACH

My approach to creating workshops and seminars is centered on providing a holistic and engaging experience that blends intellectual depth with spiritual insight. I begin by identifying key topics that resonate with the participants, ensuring the content is both relevant and thought-provoking. I believe in creating an environment where scientific concepts and spiritual teachings complement each other, offering a balanced perspective that invites reflection and personal growth.

digestable

I prioritize clarity and accessibility, breaking down complex ideas into digestible, relatable pieces so that everyone, regardless of their background, can engage with the material. I integrate real-world examples, interactive discussions, and practical exercises to foster active learning and encourage participants to connect the concepts to their own lives.

community

Throughout the process, I focus on fostering a sense of community and support, creating a space where participants feel comfortable exploring new ideas, asking questions, and sharing their experiences. My ultimate goal is to inspire individuals to see the interconnectedness of science and spirituality, empowering them to live with a deeper sense of purpose and understanding.
